Now is a great time to attract wild birds, and there’s no better place to do it than here in NW Minnesota. That’s because we have birds that stay with us year-round, winter residents from the north, summer nesters and the birds who stop-over in our yards during migration. Heidi Hughes, author of “The Expert’s Guide to Backyard Birdfeeding,” will show you how to identify and attract backyard birds this time of year.
There are lots of things you can do attract them year round – with plantings, water features, food and nest boxes. However, attracting backyard wildlife is not without challenges – window-strikes, squirrels, rodents, deer and predators.
Heidi Hughes will offer advice on how to minimize backyard wildlife problems.
And she’ll share some tips on how to get the most for your bird-feeding dollar by selecting the food, feeders and nest boxes that attract the birds you want to see.
Bring your questions, Heidi has the answers!
